SAFETY RULES & REGULATIONS
Every Member & Guest will be expected to follow all SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES RULES & REGULATIONS. The following “Ethics A-Field” was taken from S.C. Rules and Regulations. The privilege to hunt is accompanied by certain responsibilities. Foremost, among these responsibilities is the one, which demands that all who participate are duty bound to ensure the safety of themselves and other hunters. The safe hunter must accept the responsibility for the following:
• How His Hunting Implement Works
• Whether or Not it is Loaded
• Where it is Pointing
• Where the Target is
• What the Target is
• Where the Bullet, Shot, Arrow, or Other Projectile will go and Where it will Stop
All Members and Guest agree with the provision that everyone is to:
HUNT AT YOUR OWN RISK
We the members of Mine Creek Hunt Club 2 will treat each member or guest in a way to reflect true sportsmanship. We will not harass another hunter in any way that interferes with his/her hunting.
• A plot of the hunting property is located at the camp. Each member will be responsible for placing his or her pin in the area they choose to hunt before entering the woods. This applies to all property. Members have the responsibility of making sure their guest has signed in, have their pin up and are hunting in the corresponding area to their pin. Each member is also responsible for the removal of their pin after leaving the woods, morning and evening. This is to insure that everyone is accounted for. Any member that does not remove their pin from the board will receive 1 warning, after that they will be fined $25.00 for each additional time their pin is not removed.
• ATV’s, Golf Carts, or Vehicles must stay on the main roads and trails. ATV and Golf carts only will be allowed on the fire breaks on the main property. Remember, if you drive off the main roads or trails; try not to run over any trees. This land is used for logging and any tree or trees you damage, you will be responsible for at your own expense. So GO SLOW and try not to spin tires, especially when the ground is wet. We as a club are responsible for maintaining all roads. We all have the responsibility to protect the landowner’s property.
• All ATV’s must meet all GMA regulations. All ATV’s and vehicles must be as quiet as possible while on hunting property. All vehicles must be parked in a reasonable time before daylight. There will be no vehicle movement on access roads until after 10:00am or early afternoon before evening hunts. All gates must be locked behind you when entering or leaving property. Remember, if you hunt on access roads you may have traffic coming by you after 10:00am and in the early evening.
• Each member will be given a vehicle sticker that must be displayed at all times when on club property.
CAMP
It is the responsibility of each member & guest to make sure the hunt campgrounds & hunting areas are kept clean of waste & trash and to dispose of it in the proper place. Fires are only allowed in the fire pit. You may drive into camp to unload, providing you do not run over any power cords, then you must park in the designated parking area. The camp site rental fee is $100.00 per year this camping fee is due each year at the Feb meeting along with your deposit if you wish to reserve a site for the upcoming year. Each site will be numbered and you must get approval from president are safety official for initial placement of camper/building.
GAME CARCASSES/ENTRAILS
Members are responsible for the proper disposal of all carcasses/entrails. A pit and lime will be provided. Failure to dispose of the carcasses\entrails will result in a $100.00 fine no exceptions. The pit is located 150 yards passed the pond, on the right.
DEER LIMITS
• Each member will have a 3-buck limit. You will be allowed to harvest 3 bucks with a minimum of a 14” inside spread or 1 of the 3 can be a mistake buck. This mistake buck should be for a button head or a buck just short of the 14” spread. (Try not to shoot basket rack deer because these are our future trophy deer). If a member or their guest harvest a 2nd mistake buck, the member will NOT be allowed to hunt on the property until a $100.00 fine has been paid and the Safety Committee has made a decision on the club members status in the club. (This could mean being dismissed from the club with no refund of dues) The safety committee will make a decision within 3 days after the member’s fine has been paid. If this member or his/her guest harvest a 3rd mistake buck, the same will apply except the fine will be $250.00 which must be paid before the committee makes a decision. Any member that breaks this rule must set a time to pay the fine. If the fine is not paid by the time set between the committee and the member, this will be call for dismissal from the club.· Doe tags are $5.00 each, the club goes by the state limit per hunter on antlerless deer.
• REMEMBER, ANY DEER KILLED BY A GUEST COUNTS ON THAT MEMBERS LIMIT.
GUEST
• The immediate family member guest must be a (Spouse, Child, Grandchild, Brother, Sister, Mother, Farther, Grandparent) and you the member are allowed to bring one family member guest up to 10 visits per deer season and 4 visits per turkey season. The guest must sign in on the visitor’s sheet at the meeting shed before hunting. If you as a member see a visitor that does not sign-in on the visitor’s sheet, please notify the club President. The guest must sign and date one of the release forms available at the pin up board before they are allowed to go on the Mine Creek Hunt Club property. If the President does not have this information or the completed form isn’t at the pin up board and any member catches you, you will be dismissed from the club and you will lose your membership dues. All dues are for the year with no refunds. If these rules are not followed, then the member that brought the guest takes full responsibility for their guest and the club and none of its members can be held responsible for any and all liability, damage, or expense incurred on account of any injury inflicted or caused while hunting on said property. If your guest is 15 years old or under they must hunt in the same stand with you and be supervised at all times they are on the club property. Any child 15 and under can hunt with you as many times as you would like. This child 15 and under does not count on the member guest visit. (So this means you are allowed to bring your brother who is 30 and a child that is 11 at the same time.) This would count as 1 immediate family guest. At no time should a member have more than 1 guest 16 years of age or older. Any buck taken by a guest will count on the members buck limit including youth under 15.
• I would like for each member to make sure that they log in any deer that is killed on Mine Creek Hunt Club property. There will be a log sheet at the meeting shed. Please log your deer for future club information. Thank You!
• Non-Family guest. Each member will be allowed 4 guest visits (one guest per visit) per deer season but only after Nov. 1 each year until the close of deer season. Each guest must pay $20.00 per visit, which must be paid to the President or Vice President before hunting. They must sign in on the guest sheet board located at the meeting shed. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! (You can only bring one guest at a time, family member or not).
HUNTING CLUB FEES
THE YEARLY DUES WILL BE $650.00
All members will be required to pay a $100.00 non-refundable deposit by the February/March meeting every year. This is to help determine what members will be returning before the last minute and the remaining balance of $550.00 must be paid in full by May 1st each year. Any member that has not paid their $100.00 deposit or made arrangements with the club President is subject to lose their membership rights. The club must start looking for a new member for the up-coming year to replace this member. If you pay your $100.00, then decide you would not like to rejoin, the $100.00 deposit will not be refunded. It is also not the responsibility of the club President to remind members about their dues. It will be the member’s responsibility to get in touch with the club President. If for some reason you have a problem getting your money in on time, make sure you call the club President and maybe something can be worked out.
MEMBERSHIP & FINES
1. It will be the club President’s responsibility to handle payment of the hunt club lease and to make sure that all matters concerning the club are taken care of.2. All new members will be on a one-year probation period, and during the one year of probation they can be dismissed from the club for violation of any rules.3. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED ON CLUB PROPERTY OR AT CAMP AT ANY TIME. ANYONE DRINKING OR THAT HAS BEEN DRINKING WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE CLUB.
4. The combination for the locks will be printed on the membership cards each year.
5. Each member will be expected to put in at least two full days of work per year. We will schedule two workdays for each year and an alternate workday in the event of bad weather. The Team Leader will make this call if the workday is to be canceled and we fall back to the alternate workday. There will be one workday before deer season and one workday in the spring. If you as a member cannot be present on one of these workdays you must notify our Team Leader before the scheduled workday. It will be your responsibility to contact the Team Leader so the two of you can set up an alternate workday for you to get your work time in. The Team Leader makes the decision as to what work you will be responsible for during your alternate workday. If a member fails to do either of these, they will face a $100.00 fine to be paid to the Team Leader or club President before that member will be allowed to hunt on the property. There will be no scouting on these workdays until the Team Leader says the workday is over.
6. Any member that resigns from the Mine Creek Hunt Club cannot hunt as a guest for the remainder of the hunting season or the next season unless this member resigns in the proper way that is approved by the club safety committee. They must also remove any personal items from the club property within two weeks of resigning or it will become hunt club property, or be destroyed, which ever is best for the club. They must also return all keys and other items that belong to the club or other members within the same said time.
7. Any member that resigns should give at least a 60-day notice so the club can determine if a new member is needed. If you have paid your $100.00 deposit in Feb. for the year and resign, you will forfeit all your dues that have been paid.
8. There will be absolutely no drugs of any kind brought onto hunting club property at any time.
9. All stands on the roadway will be first come first serve. Stand placement on roads must be approved by the President and safety committee before use. Please be as accurate as possible when putting up your pin on the board. Please try your best to respect your fellow members. Please help with as many stands as possible on the roads for club members to use.
10. The club President and committee will have the right by vote to dismiss anyone from the club for breaking any of these rules. Anyone dismissed from the club will forfeit all membership rights and dues immediately.
11. We will also have a student membership for any members with a child 16 years of age or older, that is an active student for $100.00. The only exception is that they cannot bring a guest of any kind. Once the schooling is completed, the following year the child will have a chance to become a full member.
12. The safety committee will be keeping a running file on each member. This file is for things any member does above and beyond normal member requirements and also any rules violations. If a member has to go in front of the safety committee for any reason, this file will be reviewed from the past 2 years.
13. We have 2 club meetings per year that are mandatory to attend. One is always around the end of February/March and the other is early May. Before each meeting a letter is sent to members reminding them of the meeting. You are required to attend or notify the President or Vice President by the date indicated on the letter. If you do not notify the correct representatives by the date indicated and you are not at the meeting you will be fined $25.00.
14. There will be no vehicle traffic allowed on the interior property roads during turkey season.
15. Please remember to be courteous of other hunters. Do not leave any vehicles in front of stands in case someone plans on hunting from them.
16. No hunting of any game other than deer during deer season is allowed. The only exception is coyotes and hogs maybe harvested while still hunting for deer.
17. No spikes/nails/screws are allowed in trees.
18. There will be no hunting on are within 35 yards of the main gravel road by camp on the main property tract.
19. There will be no parking on the main gravel road by the camp.
